Microscopic Particles

Fluid Imaging produces industry-leading particle analysis instrumentation based upon digital imaging technology. The FlowCAM®, first manufactured in 1999, was the first automated particle analysis instrument to use digital imaging for measuring size and shape of microscopic particles in a fluid medium. Since that time, we have continued to lead the way in the use of this emerging technology. With applications in oceanographic research, municipal water, pharmaceutical formulations, chemicals, biofuels and many other markets, we continue to lead the way in imaging particle analysis.

BenchTop FlowCAM:

The Benchtop model of the FlowCAM is ideally suited to a typical laboratory environment. The FlowCAM automatically captures digital images of each particle as it passes by in a fluid stream and records up to 26 different measurements for each particle. The Benchtop is available in 4 different (upgradeable) models, from the imaging-only VS-I to the top-of-the-line VS-IV with two channels of fluorescence measurement and scatter trigger capabilities.

PetroCAM:

Combining superior optical engineering with state-of-the-art imaging analysis software, the rugged PetroCAM® accurately analyzes the size and concentration of oil droplets and solid particles in fluids. Having the ability to discriminate oil from solids and solids from one another using particle shape, PetroCAM is well-suited for the monitoring of produced water. The lightweight portable system is connected to a laptop for control and analysis, easing field analysis. PetroCAM instantly displays particle size and shape distributions, and also calculates concentrations for oil in water and other particulate matter contained in fluids. The images enable automated measurements and allow for quantitative and qualitative review of the particle images for greater process understanding, as well as an archival record of the actual particles used to create the measurements.

Portable FlowCAM:

Housed in a rugged, small portable case, the Portable FlowCAM has all of the features of a Benchtop FlowCAM, but in an easily transportable package ideal for collecting particle image data at remote locations. The system is entirely self-contained, with the monitor installed on the case lid, and wireless keyboard and mouse packed inside. A handy travel pull handle extends from the case along with rolling wheels for easy transport.
